Description
Hi We are sheep farmers in south of Westfjord looking for people to help us with eider down picking and hopefully lambing assistand from 10 may to 10 june ish. we are located in Barðaströnd in the south of Westfjord, there are a lot of famous landmark and locations around us like Dynjandi waterfall, Rauðisandur beach and Látrabjarg which is the most northen place of Europ. next supermarked is located 45 minutes away but we prefer to drive 1.1/3 hours to Ísafjörður which is the biggest town in the Westfjords with big supermarked so no problem getting stuff. we are located near a beach which is both black and white and we recommend going there for a short hike, our farm is also located in a nature reserved aria and there are alot of hiking trails and waterfalls around, also a natural hot spring which is only 6 km away.

We offer you to be a part of agriculture community and opportunity to experience Icelandic spring/summer in the rural fjords of the Westfjords.
we are a big family with exemplary humor and kind moral. you can learn to help birth lambs and feed bottle lambs and take care of mama sheep. all of our sheep are free roaming during summer so you can come and help us drive them in to the fjord and enjoy while they walk away into the summer. you can experience boat trips through the islands and see a lot of bird species and their nesting grounds and as always some young once hatching. it is a calm and wonderful experience walking around the island collecting eider down and listen to the birds calling. most all of us at the farm speak good English but we can also help you learn Icelandic if you wish, you can experience real Icelandic food while you stay with us for example Bjúgu (smoked sausage) kjötfars (meat pudding) and of course the famous hot dog.Host offers payment in line with the minimum wage

we are looking for a couple or 2 friends who are willing to help us pick eider down for our island which is located offshore. experience with boat and sailing is a plus but not a must. lambing season is also in the month of may so there is a opportunity to help with lambing and other chore which follow.
